Is Being Busy Evidence That A Real Estate Business Is Healthy?

I always like to start my conversations with perspective before really diving into a topic once the topic is known.

Picture a real estate business or your real estate business. I just want you to picture a real estate business. Now in your mind are you visualizing one person, a company, a top-producing agent you know of, or yourself? Are you imagining the scene in your mind is geographically New York, California, Florida, or maybe Utah? Is it a national or international business you're picturing? Do me a favor and answer these questions for yourself because the next thing I want to do is of course, ask you more questions. With what you have imagined in your mind as a real estate business, think of all the alternative options I gave, and ask yourself with me, would you define a “healthy real estate business" as one exactly like the one in your mind, or would the type of setup or location play a factor?

Here's a cool way to look at it in a different context: If I asked you who the best doctor in the country was, would you choose a cardiologist, neurologist, or maybe an obstetrician? Would you pick someone in a big city or small town? Would you choose one you've personally seen or someone with 1,000 five-star reviews? This is how complex it is to think about the health of any business, let alone one that can be as diverse as real estate.

I appreciate you going on this thought journey with me. Something I love to do in my mind is explore whether a broader perspective than the one in front of me would change my decision about something, if the circumstances were different. Because you didn't ask, but I love to write, here's my opinion.

If you think of a real estate business as a real estate professional interacting with customers and their community like a company would, that’s the preface I’m using to answer my own question. Like any company, I expect there to be standards for conduct, advertising, and interactions with the public. I expect systems that make those interactions seamless and above-board. I think in 2026 I even expect my interactions with the company to be a bit fun at times. Hello, videos and social media era! I’m thinking that a healthy real estate business makes people feel good, so if all that busyness is how they’re achieving it, well folks, I believe we have a winner. Just my take, though.

I can't wait to hear some ideas from you guys. If you're new to my writing, it's probably because I just started writing to you. And boy do I hope you'll engage and share what will broaden my mind, and allow me a glimpse into your unique and cool human perspective.

So, what does a healthy real estate business look like to you?
